Grade 10 Biblical Studies

The Christian Life

Course Outline 2011-12

Welcome to Grade 10 Bible. This year we will be building upon the foundations of previous Bible courses, looking specifically at the Christian life. We will be focusing on some of the foundational elements of the life Christ has called us to live, namely: the Bible, the Trinity, prayer, and Christian living. In addition to the normal course content, you will be responsible for the memorization of one Scripture passage each week. These passages will generally be one to three verses long and will be due each Friday.

This year, our goal is to explore what Christianity really means and how that should impact our daily life. We will be learning, of course, from God’s Word, but we will also attempt to make sense of what others have said about the Christian life. From C.S. Lewis to Philip Yancey to Donald Miller, I intend to share with you insights form some of my favourite Christian thinkers. Throughout this semester, we will look at a number of different sources as we attempt to understand and live the Christian life.

And that, ultimately, is the true goal of this course. Not to dissect and observe the Christian life as if it were some sort of paramecium in a petri dish, but rather to learn as much as we can and passionately live out the life Christ intended for his followers. If that’s something that intrigues or excites you, hop on board. If not, please keep your mind open and see what happens. Here’s to a great semester!
